At what point should we become involved with the project?
If you are a intending to (or are required to) construct new dwellings to achieve a rating against the Code for Sustainable Homes, it is vital that we become involved at the earliest stages, ideally at the concept stage, as the Code places specific requirements that need to be incorporated. This becomes more important the higher the level to be achieved (i.e. level 5 or level 6 (carbon neutral).
As part of our experience and unique approach as a Code for Sustainable Homes Assessor, we can advise on the various aspects, including which elements are the most cost effective or most efficient to introduce.
If there is a requirement to achieve a certain level, for example in Wales where there is a mandatory requirement to achieve level 3, a Pre-Assessment Estimator is required in order to validate the planning application.
